Beginning at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, the Regulatory Programs Committee will meet to discuss two new projects - a new commercial use in Bolton (Green Island) in Warren County, and a new major public utility use for a 55-watt FM translator on the existing water storage tank at Paul Smith’s College. The Regulatory Programs Committee will meet again on Friday, at 10 a.m. to discuss two applications for telecommunications antennas, one in Saranac Lake, Franklin County (on the DeChantal Apartment Building) and the other in AuSable, Clinton County on Hallock Hill Road, on an existing structure.

Last month’s presentation and discussion of the Merwin Institute at SUNY Potsdam and the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at SUNY Plattsburgh on Resources to Assist Economic Development Planning, has been rescheduled to take place at 1 p.m., during the Economic Affairs Committee on Thursday. The presentation, which was postponed last month, will focus on two important service providers for communities and businesses in the Adirondack Park. The Merwin Rural Services Institute provides community development research and training and recently received federal funding to establish a tourism data center. TAC provides business research services and direct technical assistance to communities and businesses in a 16-county area.
A Unit Plan update will be given on Gore Mountain Ski Center at 2 p.m. on Thursday during the State Land Committee meeting. A Unit Management Plan amendment to Pharoah Lake Wilderness will also be discussed during the State Lands Committee meeting.
The Adirondack Park Agency salutes 2002 Earth Day Award recipients, the secretarial staff at the Agency and a State Lands veteran, Charles Scrafford on Friday at 9 a.m.
Seven people and organizations have been selected by the Agency to put on their Earth Day Honor Roll. The honorees have been invited to accept their awards and view the new Honor Roll that will be displayed prominently at the APA headquarters in Ray Brook. As in past years, individuals and groups will receive recognition for their achievements and contributions toward education and the environment. The Honor Roll will be displayed at the Agency until Earth Day 2003.
Friday morning will also bring about recognition to the Agency’s dedicated staff. A resolution will be read into the record for both the secretaries of the Agency, and recently retired Adirondack Park Regional Planning Supervisor, Charles W. Scrafford.
The next APA meeting will be held May 9 -10 at the headquarters in Ray Brook.
