Regulatory Changes to go into effect May 1, 2002

RAY BROOK - The Adirondack Park Agency today announced the implementation of the recently approved regulatory changes to take effect on May 1, 2002.

At its March meeting, the APA approved twenty-two sections of proposed regulatory changes relating to definitions. The changes are part of a comprehensive effort to examine and revise Agency regulations for the purposes of clarifying existing regulatory language, simplifying and expediting the delivery of services to the public, and introducing more consistency, uniformity and predictability into Agency administration and decision-making.

The current amendments were developed over the past two years following public review and comment. Among the regulatory changes addressed are bed and breakfast, boathouse, guest cottage, marina, dock, retaining wall, waste disposal area, and others.

The process of revising Agency regulations are continuing. The next set of proposed regulatory changes involve Part 581, enforcement procedures, and are expected to be the subject of public review and hearings during the summer of this year.

More information on the Agency’s regulatory changes is available in the May 1, 2002 edition of the New York State Register, or by writing or calling the Agency at this address and phone number:
