RAY BROOK- Among many of their commitments to the Adirondacks, Paul Smith’s College has made immeasurable contributions to the Paul Smith’s Visitors Interpretive Center (VIC)over the years. For continued support and many years of dedication to making the Paul Smith’s VIC what it is today, representatives from the College will be recognized for their commitment at this month’s Adirondack Park Agency meeting.
On Thursday, July 11th, at 1 p.m. at the APA headquarters in Ray Brook, members of the Paul Smith’s administration will be presented with certificates of appreciation for their past contributions to projects like the Boreal Life Trail and the Forest Ecosystem Research Demonstration Area at the VIC, and the current project of building an amphitheater.
APA Chairman Richard Lefebvre will present the certificates to officials who have assembled crews to work at the VIC and whom continue to maintain past projects and coordinate new ones.
"The dedication and diligence of the Paul Smith’s administration, working crews, and students is boundless," Chairman Lefebvre said. "We are immensely grateful to everyone at the College for all the effort they have put forth in making the Paul Smith’s VIC its very best."
Also at this month’s meeting, three new projects will be reviewed during the Regulatory Programs Committee meeting on Thursday, at 9:15 a.m. The three projects are: a proposal for the placement of an antenna array, a GPS (global positioning system) antenna and three small weatherproof equipment cabinets in the Village of Lake Placid, Essex County; a proposal for a new tourist accommodation in the Town of Lake Pleasant, Hamilton County; and a proposal for an eight-lot subdivision involving hunting and fishing cabins in the Town of Clifton, St. Lawrence County.
Regulatory Committee Members will also review a proposal for a General Permit for certain minor regulated activities in APA-Jurisdictional Freshwater Wetlands.
The Local Government Services Committee will meet from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday to review text amendments to the Town of Arietta Program, and a local zoning map amendment to the Town of Westport.
On Thursday, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., the Planning/State Land Committee will meet to provide a first consideration of two proposed final draft plans, one for the Bog River Complex Unit Management Plan, the other for Scaroon Manor Public Campground Unit Management Plan.
Two enforcement cases will be reviewed from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday during the Legal/Enforcement Committee.
The Administration Committee will meet on Friday, July 12, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. to discuss proposed Agency policies concerning communications and Agency computer uses.
The next Agency meeting will be held August 8 - 9 at Agency headquarters in Ray Brook.
