RAY BROOK- The Adirondack Park Agency will consider two new projects, three enforcement cases, and the final unit management plan for the Scaroon Manor Public Campground during this month’s meeting, being held August 8th and 9th. In addition, the Agency will adopt two resolutions for two long-serving staff members of the Agency who are retiring this month. There will also be a special recognition to longtime Adirondack Park resident, Clarence Petty for his contributions to the Park.
On Thursday morning, two of the Agency’s longest serving staff members will be recognized for their years of dedicated service to the state. Director of Regulatory Programs, William Curran, and Environmental Programs Specialist, Gary Duprey will be retiring this month and Agency members and designees will adopt two resolutions in recognition of these two dedicated staff members. Agency Members and Designees will also give a special recognition award to Clarence Petty in celebration of a lifetime of his services dedicated to the people and resources of the Adirondack Park.
At 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Regulatory Programs Committee members will meet to discuss two-new projects, both involving subdivisions. First is an eight-lot subdivision involving hunting and fishing cabins in the Town of Clifton, St. Lawrence County, (this project was tabled last month) and the other project is a seven-lot subdivision in the Town of Long Lake, Hamilton County.
The State Land Committee will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday to review the final unit management plan for Scaroon Manor Public Campground for consistency with the State Land Master Plan. State Land Committee members will also receive a presentation by State Lands Team staff Walt Linck and Sunita Halasz entitled: "Recreational Use Data Collection in the Adirondacks." They will discuss the importance of user data collection in determining the capacity of the resources to withstand use. A status report on public comment on the final unit management plan for the Bog River Complex will also be given during the State Lands Committee meeting.
Legal/Enforcement Committee members will meet from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursday to discuss three enforcement cases. The three enforcement cases are in the Town of Wilmington, Essex County; Town of Long Lake, Hamilton County, and the Town of Corinth, Saratoga County, respectively.
On Friday August 9, the Adirondack Park Agency monthly meeting will re-convene at the Joan Weill Adirondack Library at Paul Smith’s College. All public is welcome to attend this meeting.
The day will begin with the Economic Affairs Committee meeting where there will be a brief presentation on Paul Smith’s College and its economic impact on the region. The presentation will be followed by a tour of the campus.
