RAY BROOK - The Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program is holding its second annual training sessions in aquatic invasive plant identification, surveying, and reporting methods.
Three free training sessions will be held for volunteers from 10 am - 2 pm and offered at these locations: Darrin Fresh Water Institute June 24, in Bolton Landing; Inlet Town Hall June 26, in Inlet; and Paul Smith's College, July 1.
Pre-registration is requested by June 18. Everyone is welcome! For further information and to sign-up email or call Hilary Oles, Program Coordinator, haoles@gw.dec.state.ny.us or (518) 891-4050.
Participants will be assisting in the Park-wide inventory effort by conducting an invasive plant search in a lake or pond of their choice. The information gathered is used to develop a comprehensive database and Web site (www.adkinvasives.com) that documents the distribution of aquatic invasive plants throughout the Park.
You can help prevent the spread of aquatic invasive plants to Adirondack waters: learn to recognize aquatic invasive plants and "get on-board" with the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program!
