George R. Farrell Maintenance Center

RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency is pleased to announce the dedication of the “George R. Farrell Maintenance Center” at its Ray Brook Headquarters on Friday, February 13, 2004, at 1:00 p.m.

George FarrellGeorge Farrell was the Agency’s Maintenance Supervisor for over 25 years until his retirement in 1998. He passed away as a result of cancer in 2001. George (dutifully and steadfastly with purpose) served the Agency in many capacities, particularly in the Agency’s formative years. “Individuals of George’s caliber are certainly the timber upon which this agency is built,” commented Agency Chairman Ross S. Whaley.

“We are thrilled to be honoring the memory of one of the Agency’s finest employees. George’s wonderful sense of humor and keen perspectives on life will never be forgotten,” said Dan Fitts, the Executive Director.

The George R. Farrell Maintenance Center is one aspect of an overall renovation project at the Agency Headquarters. These renovations, including the construction of a new public conference room, are designed to correct long-standing health and safety issues and make the Agency facilities accessible to people of all abilities.

Pat Farrell, George’s son, who now holds his father’s maintenance position with the Agency, said his family is very moved and grateful for the recognition of his dad.

All are welcome to join the Agency and the Farrell Family for the dedication which will be followed immediately by refreshments and remembrances of George.
