RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on July 8th and 9th at its Ray Brook headquarters. Highlights for this month's meeting include: improvements to Marcy Field in the Town of Keene, continued discussion of the appeal by Saratoga County regarding the Agency's request for additional information on the County's emergency communication towers project, Agency action on ATV amendments to Unit Management Plans, and a presentation of the Visitor Interpretive Center promotional video.
The Full Agency will convene at 9:00 AM Thursday to conduct its regular business.
At 9:15, the Interpretive Programs Committee will receive an update on ongoing VIC activities, discuss the new sign plan for the facilities, and watch the VIC promotional video developed by Senior Public Information Specialist Andy Flynn. At 10:00, the Regulatory Programs Committee will hear a permit and variance application for the Town of Keene for various improvements to the Marcy Field property including a 75-vehicle parking lot for a hiker/shuttle operation, renovations to the Holt House, hiking trails and other improvements. The Regulatory Programs Committee will also continue discussions with Saratoga County on their appeal of the Agency's Notice of Incomplete Permit Application. This project involves construction of three new emergency communication towers as part of the County's proposed 800 MHz Trunked Radio System.
At 1:00, the Administration Committee will convene to discuss changes to the Agency's Public Comment Policy and to ratify the Executive Director's policies.
At 1:30, the State Land Committee will meet to take up four reclassifications of State Land, two involving water supplies in Wanakena and Long Lake, and two involving the Roger's Rock and Golden Beach Campgrounds. The State Land Committee will also act on a series of proposed amendments to Unit Management Plans that address public all-terrain vehicle (ATV) use on certain roads in the Aldrich Pond, Independence River, and Black River Wild Forest areas. Finally, the Department of Environmental Conservation will provide an informational presentation on the recent International Paper Conservation Agreement.
At 3:30, the Enforcement Committee will meet. There will be no cases before the committee.
On Friday at 9:00, the Local Government Services Committee will hear a presentation on the Village of Lake George Comprehensive Plan.
At 10:00, the full Agency board will convene to hear committee reports and take actions as appropriate.
The Park Ecology Committee will hold an in-service workshop on July 7 with a field trip to Jones Pond Fen and the Osgood River Wetlands System.
The next Agency meeting is scheduled for August 12 and 13, 2004, at the Adirondack Park Agency's headquarters in Ray Brook, New York.
