RAY BROOK, NY – The Adirondack Park Agency is accepting public comments, until March 1, on the Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest and the Siamese Ponds Wilderness unit management plans. The Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest is located in the central Adirondack Park within the counties of Essex, Warren and Hamilton. This unit covers 91,854 acres of state land. The Siamese Ponds Wilderness is located in the south-central portion of the Adirondack Park within the counties of Warren and Hamilton. It is one of the largest areas classified as Wilderness and is comprised of 114,010 acres of state land.

The Adirondack Park Agency Board is scheduled to consider compliance of both Unit Management Plans with the State Land Master Plan at the March Agency meeting scheduled for March 10 and 11. Depending on the amount of comments received, the Agency will consider extending the public comment period.
