March Meeting Topics


The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on March 10 and 11 at the Agency’s headquarters in Ray Brook, NY.

The Full Agency will convene at 9:00 on Thursday morning for 25-year service award presentations to Agency staff. The Agency will also recognize retiring Local Government Review Board Executive Director, Joseph Rota, for his service to the Adirondack Park and its communities.

At 9:30, the State Land Committee will consider State Land Master Plan compliance for the Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest and the Siamese Ponds Wilderness unit management plans. The Committee will also hear presentations on the Split Rock Mountain Wild Forest and Shaker Mountain Wild Forest unit management plans.

At 1:00, the Interpretive Program Committee will convene for reports on the Visitor Interpretive Centers’ winter programs and discuss new initiatives planned for this spring and summer.

At 2:00, the Regulatory Program Committee will consider a draft permit for the Essex County Public Safety Building. This proposed 112,400 square foot building, in the Town of Lewis, would house a 120-bed County Correctional facility, Sheriff’s Department offices, a State Police Substation and Emergency Services 911 operations. The Committee will also consider a permit amendment in the Town of Hague, Warren County.

At 4:00, the Enforcement Committee will discuss a draft policy on Civil Penalty Guidance.

On Friday March 11 at 9:00, the Legal Affairs Committee will discuss ongoing regulatory revision initiatives including new State land regulations and SEQR review.

At 10:15, the Agency will again consider the motion to send to public hearing Saratoga County’s emergency communication application. This matter was tabled by the Agency at the January meeting. Finally the Agency will hear committee reports and take actions as appropriate.

The next Agency meeting is scheduled for April 7 and 8, 2005, at Adirondack Park Agency Headquarters in Ray Brook, New York.
