The Adirondack Park Agency along with the Adirondack Association of Towns & Villages, Department of State, Department of Environmental Conservation, Empire State Development and the NY Planning Federation are co-sponsoring the 8th Annual “Local Government Day.” This annual event, scheduled for March 24-25th, will take place at the Hotel Saranac in the Village of Saranac Lake. Registration starts at 8:30am on Thursday March 24.
Local Government Day is an excellent opportunity for North Country community officials to interact with their colleagues, state officials, community development specialists and concerned citizens. On March 24, workshops will address important local government issues with special emphasis on affordable housing, local government operations and state/local permitting. The NYS Department of State will provide accredited training sessions for Planning Board procedures and code enforcement.
Friday March 25 will be a half-day session with two concurrent workshops - a State Grant workshop and a Geographic Information System session. The state grant workshop will highlight a number of important programs and explain the application process. State Officials will be available to address questions about their programs. The Geographic Information System session will discuss available software and applications.
Thursday’s program will include a “Taste of the Adirondacks” reception. The reception will highlight Adirondack restaurants and lodging establishments from across the North Country.
The registration fee for Local Government Day, which includes Thursday’s lunch and the “Taste of the Adirondacks” reception, is $40.00 pre-paid and $45.00 on the day of the event. Please note Local Government Day is opened to all interested in local government and regional planning issues.
