Adirondack Park Agency Hires Local Planning Assistance Specialist


RAY BROOK, NY - Executive Director Daniel T. Fitts is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Grisi to the Local Planning Assistance Specialist position. Over the past 20 years, Mr. Grisi has worked throughout the Park as a forester and soil scientist with the Adirondack Park Agency.

Mr. Grisi's efforts will focus on outreach and training for communities and local officials. He has conducted numerous workshops for communities and local government officials. He will assist communities with local code and ordinance revisions as well as technical advice on local land use and zoning plans. The Local Planning Assistance Specialist is the primary contact and resource for any community seeking planning and technical assistance from the Agency.

Chairman Ross Whaley said, “The future of the Adirondack Park rests in implementing a shared, balanced vision for this unique combination of forest preserve and private land. Working in partnership with our local government officials, we can achieve our objectives. Brian Grisi has displayed the temperament and acquired the experiences to play an important role assisting local governments plan for their future."

“The local government position is a vital component of the agency mission. I look forward to working with Mr. Grisi to ensure our communities remain authentic and competitive”, said Commissioner Deanne Rehm.

Mr. Fitts said, “Brian brings a high level of understanding of the Agency and the Park which will serve the program and its communities well.”

In accepting this position Mr. Grisi stated, “I am thrilled at the prospect to visit every community in the Park. Over the years, I have met many wonderful people working in local governments. I am always enriched by the conversations and exchange of ideas that result from our discussions. It is evident to me that Adirondackers truly care about their towns and I want to help in whatever way I can to ensure our communities remain vital, sustainable places to raise families.”

Mr. Grisi graduated from the University of Maine with a BS in Soil Science and a MS in Forestry. He will assume his new role immediately and is reachable at 518.891.4050.
