April Meeting Topics


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on April 7 at the Agency’s headquarters in Ray Brook, NY. Highlighting the meeting is a presentation by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority on wind power.

The Full Agency will convene at 9:00 on Thursday morning for the Executive Director report. The Agency will also recognize Bettijane Forrester, who is retiring from state government after a forty-year career.

At 9:30, the Regulatory Program Committee will consider a wetlands general permit for certain regulated activities undertaken by the Department of Environmental Conservation, on State land, in or adjacent to Agency jurisdictional wetlands.

At 10:30, the Park Policy and Planning Committee will determine the approvability of a proposed technical map amendment for a .35-acre parcel of land in the town of North Elba, Essex County.

The Park Policy and Planning Committee will then hear a presentation on wind power from Peter Smith, President of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and Joseph Visalli, who serves as the Program Director of Research and Development. They will provide an overview of ongoing initiatives in other parts of New York and highlight issues related to siting, noise and community concerns.

At 1:00, the State Land Committee will consider State Land Master Plan compliance for the Siamese Ponds Wilderness and Split Rock Mountain Wild Forest unit management plans. The Committee will also hear a presentation on the revised Wilmington Wild Forest unit management plan.

Following these discussions, the DEC will provide an update on its draft ATV policy.

At 3:30, the Full Agency will hear committee reports and take actions as appropriate.

The next Agency meeting is scheduled for May 12 and 13, 2005, at Adirondack Park Agency Headquarters in Ray Brook, New York.
