PAUL SMITHS, NY - A nature and avian photographer from Saratoga County will be the featured speaker during the Adirondack Birding Celebration on Saturday, June 4 at the Adirondack Park Agency Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) in Paul Smiths.
Jeff Nadler will present a program on photographing birds and creating beautiful compositions at 2 p.m. in the Paul Smiths VIC theater. He will also have a photography display of "Boreal Birds" in the VIC Great Room from June 2 to Sept. 10, including images of boreal chickadees, a gray jay, a spruce grouse and a yellow palm warbler.
The digital slide show with music features more than 80 images of loons, shorebirds, wading birds, owls, birds of prey and perching birds. Birds of the Adirondacks are plentiful, with photographs from other North American locations as well. Nadler will discuss the field techniques and camera settings that he uses to obtain compositions that capture a bird's personality, beauty, elegance and power.
Nadler is a published freelance nature photographer who specializes in the photography of birds in the Northeast and beyond. His recent published credits include boreal bird photo essays in both Adirondack Life magazine and The Conservationist. His images and freelance-written articles have appeared in Natural New England magazine and The Adirondack Explorer. Photos have also been used for: The Adirondack Hamilton County Bird Guide, The Lake Champlain Birding Trail, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Northern Alabama Birding Trail, Lake Champlain Watershed, Wildlife Conservation Society, Adirondack Cooperative Loon Program, High Peaks Audubon, Massachusetts Audubon, and the Vermont Bald Eagle Restoration Program.

The event, to be hosted by the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the Paul Smiths VIC, will feature adventurous field trips with expert guides, informative workshops, stimulating lectures, fun-filled social gatherings, a bird-related art show and a festive banquet on Saturday night. The Adirondack Birding Celebration is also sponsored by the High Peaks Audubon Society, Audubon New York and the Adirondack Explorer news magazine.
