NEWCOMB, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) in Newcomb will be hosting a set of quilting workshops this summer with the Newcomb Mountain Quilters.
The eight classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays from July 8 to Aug. 26. Quilters will be making an Irish Chain, with patterns for beginner and intermediate quilters. The quilt dimensions, without the borders, will be 63-by-81 inches for the beginner quilt and 70-by-90 inches for the intermediate quilt (a double Irish Chain).
The program is free and open to the public. Quilters will be responsible for paying for their own fabric and materials. Participants are required to preregister by calling the Newcomb VIC at (518) 582-2000.
This quilting program is sponsored by the Newcomb Mountain Quilters and the Newcomb VIC.
The New York State Adirondack Park Agency operates two VICs, in Paul Smiths and Newcomb, which are open year-round from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Christmas and Thanksgiving. They offer a wide array of educational programs, miles of interpretive trails and visitor information services. Admission is free.
The Newcomb VIC is located about 12 miles east of Long Lake on state Route 28N. For more information, log on to the centers' Web site at www.northnet.org/adirondackvic.
