July Meeting Topics


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on July 7 and 8 at the Agency’s headquarters in Ray Brook, NY.

The Full Agency will convene at 9:00 on Thursday morning and will recognize Barbara Rottier for 25 years of service to New York State and salute Clarence Petty on his upcoming 100th birthday.

At 9:15, the Regulatory Programs Committee will consider the Nextel Partners’ telecommunication project proposed for Fort Ann, Washington County. The Committee will also hear an appeal of existing permit conditions regarding remaining building rights for a project in the Town of Ticonderoga, Essex County.

At 11:00, the Park Planning and Policy Committee will determine approvability of proposed technical map amendments for lands in the Town of Indian Lake, Hamilton County and hear an update on ongoing scenic byway projects.

At 11:30, the Legal Affairs Committee will convene for final action on proposed 2003 regulatory revisions and provide staff with guidance and input for 2005 regulatory revisions.

At 1:00, the Interpretive Committee will hear a presentation on interpretive communication and its role in fostering the stewardship that will allow the Agency to accomplish its mission of protecting the resources of the Adirondack Park.

At 1:30, the State Land Committee will consider a state land reclassification for lands in Long Lake, Hamilton County, providing for the Raquette Lake water supply. The Wilmington Wild Forest UMP and the St. Regis Canoe Area UMP will also be discussed. The Committee meeting will conclude with issue presentations on limits of acceptable change and fire towers.

At 4:00, the Enforcement Committee will convene to determine a violation of Agency permit conditions occurring on property in the Town of North Elba, Essex County.

On Friday, July 8, at 9:00 the Agency will hear a special presentation on night lighting from an environmental and economic perspective focusing on the proposed observatory in Tupper Lake.

The Full Agency will convene at 10:15 to hear committee reports and take actions as appropriate.

The next Agency meeting is scheduled for August 11 and 12, 2005, at Lake Pleasant Central School, Elm Lake Road, Speculator, New York.
