Local Government Day 2001 Vouchers accepted, register from now until start of Local Gov’t. Day.
RAY BROOK - The fourth annual Local Government Day conference will take place on March 22 and 23, 2001 at the Hotel Saranac in Saranac Lake. This conference will bring local officials and others together to exchange ideas and gain information on a wide variety of topics, such as Grant Funding Opportunities, Balancing Nature and Commerce, Updating a Community Plan, Telecommunication Towers, Zoning Boards, Enforcing Codes, and Design Guidelines, and more.
There will be a reception on Thursday, March 22 at 5 p.m. at the Union Depot in Saranac Lake, sponsored by the New York Planning Federation, which will include an update on railroad development in the Adirondacks. The conference will also feature SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry President Dr. Neil Murphy as a keynote speaker on Friday, March 23rd during the morning plenary session at 9 a.m.
"Several organizations have worked very hard in partnering for this event," said Adirondack Park Agency Chairman Richard Lefebvre. "This conference will address issues of local interest from all over the Adirondack community."
Registrations will be accepted from now until noon on Thursday, March 22nd at the Hotel. There is a fee of $30 to attend the conference which includes workshop sessions on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m., and one-hour sessions on Friday. Lunch is also included in the cost and the fee is for participation on either or both days.
There will be musical entertainment provided by Adirondack Ensemble, being sponsored by Niagara Mohawk, on Friday during the lunch break.
