Adirondack Park Agency Commissioners complete review of the New York State Ethics Commission Report

RAY BROOK, NY – Adirondack Park Agency Commissioners complete review of the New York State Ethics Commission Report.

The Adirondack Park Agency Board held two executive sessions at its monthly meeting on April 6 and 7, during which the New York State Ethics Commission Report, regarding allegations pertaining to Public Officers Law - 74 was discussed. All Agency Commissioners were present.

Agency Commissioners carefully reviewed the entire record of investigation provided by the Ethics Commission. In addition, all commissioners reviewed the internal responsibilities, duties and policies of the Agency. After thorough deliberations, the Agency Commissioners concluded the actions of Daniel Spada and Sunita Halasz were not in violation of Public Officers Law 74.

"The Adirondack Park Agency and its Commissioners considered the Ethics Commission Report a most serious matter," stated Chairman Whaley. "The commissioners met in two executive sessions, working long into the evening on Thursday and resuming discussions on Friday morning. Our review was exhaustive and resulted in the opinion that staff did not use their positions to secure unwarranted privileges or use any influence to gain favor," he concluded.

Chairman Whaley went on to say, "The Agency Board encourages the Park Agency’s Ethics Officer to continue ongoing ethics training to ensure staff is fully aware of their obligations under the Public Officers Law and Agency policies."
