RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on June 8 and 9 at the Agency’s headquarters in Ray Brook, NY.
The Full Agency will convene at 9:00 on Thursday morning for the Executive Director's report.
At 9:15, the State Land Committee will convene for a presentation by the Department of Environmental Conservation on the snowmobile trail maps that were developed through the Adirondack snowmobile planning effort. The committee will hear a first reading for both the Whiteface Mountain Ski Area Intensive Use Area and the Blue Ridge Wilderness Unit Management Plans. The Jessup River Wild Forest Unit Management Plan will go before the Board for a second reading, with Agency action possible. The committee meeting will conclude with ongoing State Land Master Plan interpretation discussion issues.
At 1:00, the Regulatory Programs Committee will determine approvability for four projects:
• Proposal for a major public utility use involving installation of two new 80-foot tall towers and installation of radio equipment and solar panels on existing and previously permitted towers . The project is located in the Town of Newcomb, Essex County.
• Adirondack League Club 30 - lot subdivision. The proposed project is the subdivision of 1,235 +/- acre tract of land into 30 lots resulting in 26 new building lots, three common areas and an open space parcel. The new building lots will range is size from 2.45 acres to 11.61 acres. The site is located on the southeast shoreline of Woodhull Lake in the Town of Webb, Herkimer County. Key issues include wastewater treatment system, water quality and adjoining landowner concerns.
• Delaney Crushed Stone Products, Inc. The proposed project would allow further expansion of a previously approved commercial sand and gravel extraction and mineral excavation operation. This project is located in the Town of Northampton, Fulton County. Key issues include impacts to nearby and adjoining land uses and aesthetics and open space.
• Word of Life Fellowship, Inc. The proposed project is for the construction of an air dome seasonal use athletic building. The structure would be used from June through August. Then dismantled and stored during the winter. The project is located in the Town of Schroon, Essex County. Key issues include visual impacts, vegetative screening and noise assessment.
The committee will also consider the renewal of a general permit to allow management of terrestrial invasive plants in or within 100 feet of wetlands.
At 3:00, the Legal Affairs Committee will meet for legal guidance review concerning boathouses, guest cottages, gift exemption and hand harvesting of nuisance aquatic plants in water depths less than two meters. The committee will hear a status report on rules and regulations revision.
On Friday, June 9, the Economic Affairs Committee will convene for a presentation and discussion on broadband services in the Adirondack Park. The committee will focus on the state of services in the Adirondacks and the North County Region. Speakers will include Howard Lowe, Executive Director of the Technical Assistance Center, Plattsburgh State University and Tom Sauter, Deputy Executive Director of the Development Authority of the North Country.
At 10:30, the Full Agency will hear committee reports and take actions as appropriate.
The next Agency meeting is scheduled for July 13-14, 2006, at the Adirondack Park Agency Headquarters in Ray Brook, New York.
AUGUST AGENCY MEETING – August 10-11, 2006, Adirondack Park Agency, Ray Brook, NY
