RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on September 14 and 15 at the Indian Lake Fire House in Indian Lake, NY.
The Full Agency will convene at 9:00 on Thursday morning for the Executive Director’s report and a welcome by Barry Hutchins, Supervisor of Indian Lake.
At 9:30, the State Land Committee will hear presentations from Park Agency and DEC staff regarding Intensive Use Area Campground guidelines. The committee will then hear a first reading of the Lake Eaton Intensive Use Area Unit Management Plan. DEC will give an informational reading of The Watson’s East Triangle Wild Forest, the Raquette-Boreal Wild Forest and the Raquette-Jordon-Boreal Primitive Area Unit Management Plans. DEC will also provide an update on plan revisions to the Moose River Plains Wild Forest Unit Management Plan. The committee meeting will conclude with ongoing State Land Master Plan interpretation discussion issues.
At 1:00, the Regulatory Programs Committee will determine approvability for two projects:
• Brookview Court. The project consists of the installation, removal and storage of a 215 foot long dock system and a staircase leading to the dock on the west shoreline of the Great Sacandaga Lake. The project is located in the Town of Northampton, Fulton County. Key issues include: shoreline impacts, winter storage of the docks and consideration of the Shoreline Restrictions of Section 806 of the Adirondack Park Agency Act.
• Beaulieu single family dwelling permit and variance renewal. Seventh renewal of a permit and variance for the construction of a new single family dwelling 75 feet from the mean high water mark of the Raquette River, a designated recreational river in the New York State Wild, Scenic and Recreational Rivers System. The project is located in the Town of Tupper Lake, Franklin County.
At 2:00, the Enforcement Committee will hear a report on the progress of the enforcement program over the past several years and discuss future challenges.
At 3:30, the Interpretive Programs Committee will discuss the Visitor Interpretive Center’s summer program highlighting popular activities like the butterfly house and the annual Adirondack Wildlife Festival. The committee will also review the strategic plan update.
On Friday, September 15, the Full Agency will convene at 9:00 AM in the Indian Lake Fire House. Under new business, the Park Policy committee will lead a review and discussion of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Hudson River-Black River Regulating District. The Full Agency will conclude with committee reports and take actions if necessary.
