RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Thursday, December 14 and Friday, December 15 at the Adirondack Park Agency headquarters in Ray Brook, NY.
The Full Agency will convene at 9:00 on Thursday morning for the Executive Director’s report.
At 9:15, the State Land Committee will consider State Land Master Plan compliance for the Raquette-Boreal Wild Forest and Primitive Area, White Hill Wild Forest and the Lake Eaton Public Campground Unit Management Plans. The committee will also hear a first reading for the Watson’s East Triangle Wild Forest Unit Management Plan. The committee meeting will conclude with ongoing State Land Master Plan interpretation discussion issues.
At 1:00, the Interpretive Programs Committee will convene to review the Visitor Interpretive Centers’ fall programs and discuss the upcoming winter program schedule.
At 2:00, the Regulatory Programs Committee will determine approvability of one project and two variances:
• Hutchison subdivision: The applicant proposes a 21-lot shoreline subdivision involving wetlands and occurring within a recreational river area. A shoreline setback variance for an elevated boardwalk is also required. The project is located in the Town of Franklin, Franklin County. Key issues include conformance with rivers regulations, rivers variance criteria, wetlands protection, visibility, shoreline protection, protection of bald eagle nesting habitat, segmentation of shoreline and erosion control.
• David Hunt Single Family Dwelling within “River Area”: The applicant proposes construction of a single-family dwelling with individual on-site water and wastewater treatment systems on a lot determined to be part of a preexisting subdivision called “Au Sable Acres”. The proposed site is within the “river area” of the West Branch Au Sable River, a designated “recreational river” in the New York State Wild, Scenic and Recreational Rivers System. The proposed dwelling requires a 26-foot structure setback variance from the minimum building setback of 150' from the mean high water mark. The project is located in the Town of Jay, Essex County. Key issues include visibility and structure setbacks.
At 3:30, the Local Government Services Committee will discuss Local Government Day 2007. This annual event takes place in March. Local Government Day is an excellent opportunity for North Country officials to interact with their colleagues, state officials and community development specialists. Last year’s attendance exceeded 180 individuals from across the Adirondacks. The committee will also hear an update on the Town of Johnsburg’s efforts to develop an Agency approved Local Land Use Plan.
On Friday, December 15, the Agency meeting will start at 9:00 AM. At this time the Legal Affairs Committee will hear a regulatory revisions report.
At 9:45, the Full Agency will convene for committee reports and to take actions if necessary.
