April Meeting Topics

RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Friday, April 13 at the Adirondack Park Agency Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY.

The Full Agency will convene on Friday morning at 9:00 am for the Executive Director’s Report at which time the agency will recognize staff members George Outcalt Jr. and Steven Erman for twenty-five years of state service. During the report, Earth Day will be celebrated.

At 9:30, the Park Ecology Committee will host the Adirondack Park Aquatic Nuisance Species Management Cooperative Agreement signing and receive updates from Dan Spada and Hilary Oles on the New York State Invasive Species Task Force and the Aquatic Nuisance Species Committee. The committee meeting will conclude with a discussion, on Ecological Impact Zones, led by agency staff member Mark Rooks and Elizabeth Dowling of SUNY ESF.

At 10:45, the Regulatory Programs Committee will determine approvability for a project involving the installation of an elevated wooden boardwalk in wetlands that also requires a shoreline setback variance. The proposed boardwalk would be three feet wide by 180 feet long and provide foot access to a proposed five foot by 20 foot long floating dock in Lake Flower. The project site is in the Town of Harrietstown, Franklin County. The project must meet the setback variance test for practical difficulties and unnecessary hardships. Key issues are wetland impacts.

At 1:00 pm, the Legal Affairs Committee will convene for discussions on regulatory revision priorities.

At 2:30, the Local Government Service Committee will meet for a status report on the Town of Johnsburg’s Local Land Use Program and for a briefing on an upcoming local government training opportunity. The Department of State and the Adirondack Park Agency will offer training for municipal officials on April 25 at the Town of Hague municipal building. Informational sessions will address planning and zoning board procedures.

At 3:30, the Interpretive Programs Committee will hear a summary presentation on recently concluded winter programs at the Visitor Interpretive Centers and discuss the upcoming spring schedule of events.

At 4:15, The Full Agency will convene for committee reports and to take actions if necessary.
