RAY BROOK, NY – The Adirondack Park Agency considers approval for Town of Johnsburg’s local land use plan.
At the July Agency meeting, the Adirondack Park Agency is expected to consider approval of the Town of Johnsburg’s proposed Local Land Use Program. The Agency must determine that Johnsburg's local land use program meets the minimum criteria defined in Section 807 of the Adirondack Park Agency Act and adheres to Agency regulations for local land use programs. Upon approval by the Agency and adoption by Johnsburg, the Town will assume review responsibilities for Class B regional projects and shoreline variances.
The Town's local land use program includes proposed new zoning, subdivision, on-site wastewater treatment, and junk storage laws. The Agency will review these laws for consistency with its approval criteria for local land use programs. Johnsburg’s program seeks to preserve the community's character and natural resources through the adoption of land use criteria consistent with the Town's Comprehensive Plan and Agency development considerations. The Johnsburg program would also adopt the boundaries and density patterns of the official Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan map for local zoning districts.
The Agency is tentatively scheduled to review the Johnsburg program at 10am on July 13 at the Tannery Pond Community Center in Johnsburg.
The Agency, as lead agency, has issued a determination under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR) that the approval of the Johnsburg Local Land Use Program will not have adverse environmental impacts. Agency staff prepared a SEQR negative declaration. The proposed local laws, negative declaration and supporting documents are on file and available for review by the public either at the Adirondack Park Agency in Ray Brook or at the Town of Johnsburg Town Hall.
