RAY BROOK, NY – The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Thursday, February 7 and Friday, February 8 at the Adirondack Park Agency Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY.
The Full Agency will convene on Thursday morning at 9:00 for the Interim Executive Director’s monthly report.
At 9:15, the Regulatory Programs Committee will consider four projects. The Olympic Regional Development Authority proposes a new three-level conference center integrated with the existing Olympic Center. The conference facility will house a multipurpose room (ballroom/ice rink/exhibition rooms), nine meeting rooms, a boardroom, restrooms, offices and utility, storage and mechanical rooms. The new building will consist of approximately 84,223 square feet of floor space and measure 63.5 feet in overall height. The proposed project is located on Main Street in the Village of Lake Placid, Essex County. Key issues include aesthetics and traffic.
Lake Placid Vacation Corporation proposes a 7,130±-square foot addition onto the southwesterly side of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This addition consists of a relocated indoor pool area and new water slide. The existing pool area will be converted into a meeting space and two new guest rooms. The proposed project is located in the Village of Lake Placid, Essex County. Key issues include visibility and stormwater management.
Champlain Stone, Ltd. proposes a 10.5-acre expansion to an existing 12.5-acre mineral quarry over the next five years. The proposal includes 13 open-sided mineral processing buildings, a 50-foot by 60-foot, 20±-foot high maintenance building and a 8-foot by 10-foot scale building. The project is located in the Town of Dresden, Washington County. Key issues include open space, adjoining and nearby land uses and wetlands.
Lingerlong Estates, LLC. proposes a nine-lot subdivision involving wetlands. The proposal includes residential development on lots ranging from 1.7± to 4.7± acres. The project is located in the Town of Watson, Lewis County . Key issues include wetland protection, shoreline protection and visual impacts.
At 11:15, the State Lands Committee will hear a report on DEC-APA staff analysis of historic snowmobile trail mileage on state lands.
At 1:00, the Local Government Committee will convene for an overview of local government services in 2007 and an update on the 2008 Local Government Day agenda.
At 1:30, the Legal Committee will meet for the Agency Counsel’s report and hear a briefing on the December 2007 meeting of the Technical Advisory List regarding regulatory revisions.
At 2:30, the Park Policy and Planning Committee will consider a proposed map amendment to the Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Map. The proposal requests reclassification of approximately 4.4 acres of private land in the Town of Putnam, Washington County from Rural Use to Moderate Intensity Use.
On Friday, February 8 at 9:00 a.m., Ms. Judith Enck, Deputy Secretary for the Environment, will address the Agency Board regarding Governor Spitzer’s proposed budget.
At 9:30, the Interpretive Programs Committee will convene for a panel discussion on partnerships for Adirondack Park interpretation. The Paul Smiths and Newcomb VICs assisted in facilitating a network of organizations focused on interpreting the natural environment of the Adirondack Park. Representatives from the APA Visitor Interpretive Centers, SUNY-ESF’s Roosevelt Wildlife Station, the Wild Center, the Wildlife Conservation Society, and the Adirondack Mountain Club will highlight their interpretive roles.
At 11:00, the Regulatory Programs Committee will hear a request for reconsideration involving the Agency’s determination for Project 2007-26, Matter of Walters, Town of Greig, Lewis County.
At 11:30, the Full Agency will convene for committee reports and to take actions as necessary.
