RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at its Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday, May 9 and Friday May 10, 2013. Please use www.apa.ny.gov and click Webcasting from the Contents List to watch the meeting.
The Full Agency will come to order at 9:00AM for Executive Director Terry Martino's monthly report.
At 9:30, the State Land Committee will hear an informational presentation regarding proposed classification alternatives for the recently acquired Essex Chain of Lakes Tract (18,888 acres), Indian River Tract (945 acres), OK Slip Falls Tract (3,015 acres), and OSC Tract (160 acres), as well as Forest Preserve lands adjacent to these tracts which are being considered for potential reclassification.
The lands subject to these classification actions are located in the Hamilton County Town of Indian Lake, and the Essex County Towns of Minerva and Newcomb. The lands considered for reclassification are located within the existing Vanderwhacker Wild Forest, the Blue Mountain Wild Forest and the Hudson Gorge Primitive Area.
The Board will consider authorizing public hearings to solicit public comment on the proposed classification alternatives.
At 11:15, the State Land Committee will re-convene for an informational presentation regarding an amendment to the Whiteface Mountain Unit Management Plan. The amendment involves the redevelopment of the existing Ski Patrol building and the installation of antenna systems for the Essex County public safety radio communication system.
At 12:00, the Full Agency in recognition of Arbor Day will plant a tree in the Agency's arboretum to honor the first Chairman of the Adirondack Park Agency, Richard Lawrence.
At 1:00, Town of Queensbury Supervisor, Ron Montesi, will provide the Board with a Community Spotlight overview of this Warren County municipality. Supervisor Montesi will highlight notable achievements and challenging issues facing his community.
At 3:30, the Local Government Committee will be briefed by Agency staff on the success of the 16th annual Local Government Day which was held on April 25-26.
On Friday May 10 at 9:00AM, the Legal Affairs Committee will come to order for presentations on the Agency's jurisdictional referral process and the State Administrative Procedures Act Consensus Rule. At 11:00, the Full Agency will assemble to take action as necessary.
The meeting will conclude with committee reports, Local Government Review Board, public and member comment.

The June Agency is scheduled for June 13-14, 2013 at Agency headquarters in Ray Brook.
