The Department of State will be conducting local planning workshops from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays, May 18 and 25, at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Building, on Route 9N (at entry to Essex County Fairgrounds) in Westport.
These sessions, sponsored by the Adirondack Park Agency, are intended to help local officials and board members involved in the development and administration of local plans and regulations.
The May 18 session will be a basic overview of the authority of local boards, review processes, the Open Meetings Law, county referrals, record keeping and decision making. The May 25 session will focus on the process and criteria for site plan review and special permits.
The sessions are free for board members and local officials. Attorneys wishing to gain Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit for the second session will be charged $25. Code Enforcement Officers will receive continuing education credit at no charge. For registration and general information contact James W.
