ALBANY -The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) today announced the New York State Senate has confirmed both the nomination of Deanne Rehm to fill the Agency’s vacant seat and the re-appointment of three sitting members.
The Senate approved Governor Pataki's nomination of former Town of Bolton Supervisor Deanne Rehm to the APA, along with the re-appointment for another term of William Kissel of Lake Placid, James Townsend of Rochester and Frank Mezzano of Lake Pleasant.
Deanne Rehm will take the vacant in-Park seat on the APA Board. She was born in Lake Luzerne and moved to the Town of Bolton with her family in 1946 where she attended Bolton Central School and graduated as the salutatorian of her high school class. She has served as the Town of Bolton Supervisor since 1995 where she has successfully managed the town’s business.
"The Governor’s mission of balanced decision-making is assured with the reappointment of Commissioners Kissel, Mezzano and Townsend, and is enhanced with the addition of Mrs. Rehm to the Board," APA Chairman Richard Lefebvre said.
William Kissel was appointed to the Agency in June 1999. He operates his own law firm in Lake Placid, concentrating in environmental, governmental regulations, municipal, business, financial, commercial, real estate and estate planning.
Frank Mezzano was appointed to the Agency in February 1998. Since 1962 he has owned the Speculator Department Store. From 1993 until his appointment to the Agency in 1998, Mr. Mezzano was Supervisor of Lake Pleasant, a member of Hamilton County Board of Supervisors, and President of Speculator/Lake Pleasant Consolidated Health District.
James Townsend was appointed to the Agency in June 1999. He is a partner with the Rochester, New York, law firm, Remington, Gifford, Williams & Colicchio, LLP, a general practice firm concentrating in corporate, business and real estate matters. He is also Counsel to the Monroe County Industrial Development Corporation.
The mission of the Adirondack Park Agency is to protect the public and private resources of the Park through the exercise of the powers and duties of the Agency as provided by law. The Agency consists of 66 staff and an 11-member board , eight of whom are appointed by the Governor. The other three members are designated to the Secretary of State, Commissioner of Environmental Conservation and Commissioner of the Department of Economic Development Corporation. The Agency Board acts on Park policy issues and permit applications during Agency meetings, which are held monthly and are open to the public.
